THE ROAD: Behind What’s Seen On-screen

Shooting for Yam Laranas’ “The Road” was an intense experience, and based on the great reviews the movie has been getting internationally, all the hard work is paying off!  Read some of the reviews here.

The challenging shoot often had its breakfast/lunch/dinner breaks as excuses to have more production meetings…

All photos by The Road’s official photographer, Gari Buenavista.

Regular post-shoot meetings….

Meetings here….

Meetings there….

These two are always meeting….. The brilliant tandem team that is Yam Laranas and assistant director, Jay Abello.

The words “off-the-beaten-path” can not even describe the various locations our shoot demanded….

(The above photo I took during our oculars and tech scout meetings prior to shooting.)

Shooting was mostly in the boondocks ;)….

From day….

To night….

Inside….

Outside….

Wait until it rains, this location can get really muddy!….

It’s best to deal with the mud and rain in style a la production coordinator, Michelle Tejada.  Utilitarian-stylin’ at its functional best complete with a rain coat tied around the waist and argyle-printed rainboots….

There are some of the spooks you see on-screen ….

And some of the “kooks” you don’t see, off-screen haha! 😉 ….

You gotta’ balance the crazy work schedule with comic relief somehow….

As demanding as it was, I would gladly do this again and again…. and again!  Besides the final product and my love and passion for costume design,  blame it on Director Yam Laranas’ awe-inspiring expertise and professionalism and working alongside the most interesting and talented (and not to mention entertaining) group of people that make up the production crew and staff and the actors.

The motley crew with the director….

Some of the crew driving off, but not into the sunset ;)….

    • Hello Pinay! We shot in several locations, some of them in Fairview and most of them in the outskirts of Rizal. We had an amazing production manager who sourced out the perfect locations for the shoot. 😉
