Wedding Watch: Bridal Without a Cause

This ultra-modern chapel overlooks the Hamilo Coast and the Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club, a perfect setting for a modern and destination wedding.

This chapel is beautifully encased in glass.  Look at how the glass paneling somewhat transforms my behind-the-seen shot below with a winter wonderland feel, the reflection like snow on top of a mountain (and of course enhanced by our gorgeous winter-esque bride being photographed by amazing photographer, Lilen Uy)….

And the scene brings me back to my last trip to Japan where I took this shot of snow-capped Mt. Fuji….

But a winter wedding is another thing, so here are some beautiful and simple ideas for a modern beach wedding setting…

Style Me Pretty has their own simple and minimalistic version….

Modern Nature courtesy of D Magazine….

And actual wedding setup from Sugar Paper ……

And why not ditch the traditional?  Instead of white, colored wedding gowns have been making more of an appearance in bridal fashion shows in the past few years.  Even the classic Vera Wang had a line of black, gothic bridal dresses for her Fall 2012 bridal collection…..

Don’t forget unique, gorgeous heels like these from Gaupo….

Since the deck here is pretty spacious, as pictured here with my “mobile office” ;)….

It makes a wide pathway around the chapel, so an area like this would be perfect for the wedding cocktails during sunset, if allowed ….

Another non-traditional move is to go short!  Who says the bride has to wear a long gown for a beach or a beautiful deck wedding, especially in hot weather?  A modern, renegade bride could wear something like this (magnificent forest backdrop is another view point from this very same deck)…..

Actually, more and more brides are even doing a change of outfit for their reception and slipping on cocktail dresses…. Dress by Happy Andrada with draping gold chains as a back feature. I added another layer by draping a necklace with chain and feather fringes from Swim, a swimsuit store in Rockwell.

Incorporating chains to your ensemble is an edgy move….

…. And is not as bad as it sounds.  In fact, I love it!!  See how these chains (a customized body chain for our fashion editorial shoot by accessories designer, Tessa de Guzman) add a twist to our bride’s outfit below.  It’s like mixing sugar & spice or naughty & nice….

Gown by Tippi Ocampo, hair accesory, cuff and bouquet collection by Ming Ong-Moya for Kathang Kamay.

So, as the sun sets along the Hamilo Coast……

Kick off your shoes (or carefully set them aside), relax and be sipping on cocktails.  But pace yourself and may I advice the bride to refrain from doing shots, or else…..

1 tequila, 2 tequila, 3 tequila…. Floor!
