Seeing Green: Organic & Fantastic!

A late post, but still fresh nevertheless…. Some of my behind-the-scene shots of October 2012’s issue of High Life Magazine with model and good friend, Alexia and the incredible and extraordinary Lilen Uy as our master photographer…

The fashion for the shoot had an organic, yet modern feel, hence the name “Organic Futuristic”. The editorial team suggested featuring local “organic” materials such as pina and banana fiber. I loved the idea as it allowed me to highlight Filipino designers and local and sustainable and/or recycled materials….

Check out how tall Alexia is….

Not only that, it was only appropriate that our location shared the same feel and values to the word “organic” and nothing more at the moment could beat the LEED-approved, Zuellig Building, which at that time was not yet opened to the public. This contemporary, environmentally responsible building utilizes green technology such as solar panels, a rainwater collection system, glass curtain walls (so that the interiors were not so hot from what I remember), low-flow plumbing fixtures and landscaped grounds, green terraces and sky garden to name a few.

And the final fashion editorial pages, which I like to think we achieved a sleek, modern yet organic feel….

Thank you to the High Life editorial team (you know who you are and you know that I love you!) and to the rest of the wonderful production….

  1. Very cool, Guads! Here in Vancouver, I am seeing a number of clothes, yes, clothes, made of bamboo!!! And, contrary to what one may think, they are absolutely comfy! The next big thing, I think, maybe for your next shoot, come and visit!

    • Hi Fides!!!! We have missed you here!
Yes, fashion technology is absolutely amazing! I have heard of comfy yoga clothes made from bamboo, although I have yet to try.
I’d like for more of our designers to use banana fiber and pina here to help support our local weavers, a dying industry unless we do something about it.
But I definitely want to go Vancouver one of these days so be ready for me and An Eye for An Eye haha!
