Last Sunday, international jazz chanteuse, Kevyn Lettau performed at the International Jazz Gala, the finale to the Philippine Jazz Festival 2012. This brilliant beauty who calls the Philippines her “home” was honored with an award in recognition and appreciation for all her efforts in the Philippine jazz scene.
To receive such an award, it was important to have Kevyn in an equally award-worthy ensemble. Furthermore, this was her final performance for the festival and we needed to put together something memorable. We visited gorgeous and talented designer, Tippi Ocampo at her drawing room, situated high above The Fort.
I love her bold and modern interpretations to traditional femininity….
Girly lace and tulle with daring silhouettes…
For Kevyn, I knew I wanted to steer away from the usual black for formal events and I already knew that with her blonde hair and light complexion, I needed a pop of color. This was the first gown she tried on… What do you think?
We all really loved the silhouette on her and with just a few minor adjustments, it was going to be perfect. And although the color was truly adorable, the bright pink just seemed too “playful” for the look we were going for.
After trying a few more gowns….
We all agreed that this was the one!
The color brought out the blue in her eyes and I admired Tippi’s brave mix of techniques and fabrications.
Fast forward to backstage at the Rockwell Tent and Kevyn being prepped with the expert makeup artistry of Cecille Rebollos (I LOVE the red in your hair, Cecille!)…
My assistant, Aibel (Eyeball as Kevyn calls her), took these beautiful photos while backstage…
Et voila, the final formulation….
I threw in the mix a pair of custom-made, extra long mixed-gold tone chain earrings with freshwater pearls to add more of an edge. These earrings had a unique feature with its chains draped in front and behind the earlobe.
Then packing a punch with a Kathy Webb pearl-clustered cocktail ring as a final touch and Kevyn’s good to go!
It was lovely getting to work more closely with you this time, Guada! I had such a fun time with you & Kevyn it shouldn’t even be called ‘work’. And thank you so much for including me in your lovely blog post 🙂 Congratulations on great styling (as always)!
Thank you too, Tippi! Your beautiful gown pulled everything together! 😉
